In ancient Celtic mythology there is a crow goddess known as Badb, one of the faces of the Morrigan. She is associated with warfare and madness, and is the earliest form of the famous bean-sídhe (banshee) the herald of death. I painted woad spirals on this bone wand to connect its holder to the ancestral times of old when earth, water, and sky unified for magical purposes. Hand sculpted crow feathers have been painted with an iridescent gleam to symbolize Badb's connection to the faeries, the aes sídhe. May you feel a connection beyond the Veil with this tool.
made from ethically sourced lamb bone from a friend's sheep farm, the breed being Jacob's sheep, an ancient breed unique and strange. The quartz crystal tip is high grade, meant for fasceting, but I saw its purpose for this piece.
sealed with varnish and polymer glaze.
